At MT Brewery we like beer, Real Beer. And so we brew our beer according to a philosophy that results in real beer with real flavor via minimal intervention and no artificial additives. We use the best ingredients that can be sourced (why use any others?), traditional brewing methods, proper maturation times and totally avoid pasteurization and over filtration. The results speak for themselves.
Two New Beers coming very very soon.
REGULAR LINE-UP
Mountain Bitter
Mountain Bitter is a contemporary interpretation of a Yorkshire Best Bitter. It is a glowing copper coloured beer with a creamy head and an aroma of tangerines, biscuit and oak. In the mouth it carries light caramel flavours and a very firm and quenching bitterness. A great pairing with simple pizza, grilled game bird , aged cheddar or for that occasion when lots of real flavor is desired.
Czech Mate Pils
Czech Mate Pils is a traditional Bohemian style lager that has been named after our Czech mate Thomas – the man who designed this beer. It has been brewed as a true, no expense spared Pilsner via a decoction mash (a very lengthy procedure) and the use of Bohemian Pilsner malt and Czech Saaz hops. It then undergoes a lengthy maturation process before arriving as a golden coloured beer to you. The aroma is herbaceous and floral and is followed in the mouth by fresh bread flavours and a carefully balanced bitterness.
Moderation Pale Ale
Pale Ales are a subset of many beer styles and our Moderation Pale Ale is based on the Pale Ales that emerged from the Craft Beer Revolution that formed in the U.S.A in the late 1970’s. It displays a huge aroma of tropical fruit and citrus thanks to very generous late kettle additions of North American hops. In the mouth a firm but not overpowering bitterness is tempered by a biscuity malt profile that completes this beer. This style is traditionally in the 5-6% alcohol range however we feel that our moderate example carries this beer lovers style every bit as well at only 3.3%
Black Cockatoo
The second Lager in our line –up, Black Cockatoo is modeled on the Schwarzbiers (black lagers) of Germany. A deep ruby black colour this beer displays all the classic traits of its style. The aroma is a delicate balance of roasted malt and noble hops whilst in the mouth it shows a delicate bitterness that holds in check malt flavours of caramel and chocolate. Black Cockatoo is a light-medium bodied beer and is very good match with grilled lamb, roasted pork or spicy rice dishes.
Seasonal and Special Release Beers
As well as our regular line-up of beers MT Brewery is constantly playing with new brews. Some of these beers are ones that will be available on a semi-regular basis, some are seasonal and others are purely one off specials made just for the fun of it.
Katya Imperial Stout
Katya is one of our little girls and she is modeled on the stouts made for export to the Russian Imperial Court during the 18th century. Catherine the Great is known to have been very fond of the style, hence our naming this beer Katya. In the Glass Katya shows a deep brown/black colour with a dense tan head. The aroma is one of deep chocolate liquor with hints of overripe fruit and is followed by a beer of similar flavours carried by a smooth and large body. At 7% abv Katya Imperial Stout will warm against the chilliest winter and is a perfect partner for rich chocolate or coffee desserts.
0909 Cuvée Blonde
0909 is a special release of a prestige batch of a pale Belgian style ale. It has been brewed with specially selected continental wheat & pilsner malts and hopped with a combination of European and New Zealand hops. Fermentation was allowed to run at a free temperature and was conducted with yeast from a Belgian abbey. The nose carries supple raisin and citric notes whilst the body is soft and affords more yeast and hop derived fruit notes. A favourite with all at the brewery 0909 Cuvée Blonde is sure to capture your palate.
Yippy IPA
IPA or India Pale Ale is a style of beer for the real lover of all things hops. It originated during the British occupation of India as a way of exporting fresher tasting beer through the use of very large hop additions to act as a natural preservative. In the last few decades however it has morphed into several different interpretations – Classic British IPA, American IPA, New World IPA and the real aggressor IIPA.At MT Brewery our IPA is not one but several different beers that will rotate through to showcase different hop varieties and different techniques for brewing this real beer lover’s style. All of them will be big on bitterness and very big on flavor. Our current IPA (yippy) is a Classic British IPA with lots of Marmalade, Kumquat & other citrus flavours supported by a big malt backbone and plenty of bitterness.
St Bridget
St Bridget is a Belgian style of beer known as Dubbel. It has been inspired by beers made by the Trappist monks of Belgium and in fact is made with yeast from the famous Westmalle Trappist brewery.St Bridget is a rusty red/brown colour with a dense and creamy head. The aroma is of ripe plum and light caramel and is followed by a medium bodied beer with similar flavours. We brew this beer with reverence and serve it in the same way thinking it to be an ideal partner toWitches Chase LI WashedRind or Veal & Mushroom dishes
MT Hopfenweisse
(currently M.I.A.)
Hopfenweisse is an extremely new style of beer with only 4 examples existing in the world. It is based on the classic German Hefe-weizen but with a hop profile and bitterness more akin to that of a Pilsner. MT Hopfenweisse is made from all German wheat and barley malts with hops coming from New Zealand. It has a cloudy yellow colour with an aroma of banana, cloves and tropical fruit. In the mouth it shows a dry bitterness that is very refreshing. Well paired with white fleshed fish, BBQ’d rosemary scallops or soft cheeses.
